The Backup Wizard helps you creating a new backup project and guides you through the most common options in BackupXpress Pro 2008.

You can choose between two options:
Quickstart Wizard:
This option is for beginners, who only want to create a compressed backup. Nothing fancy, just backup.
Advanced Wizard:
This option is for experienced users who want to use the full flexibility of the BackupXpress Pro. This includes e.g. synchronizing, incremental or differential backup, archive splitting, encryption, sending files through the internet or scheduling a backup.
Quickstart Wizard
Now that you have chosen to use the Quickstart Wizard, we will guide you through the dialogues.
Choose here, if you want to use a predefined group. This would be for example all your windows files, or all your Outlook files. Check "My documents" if you want to backup everything that's in your "My documents" folder.
If you have different files you need to backup, just use "User defined" and you'll get the option to choose the files later.

Choose your destination directory now.
This will be the place where your backup files are going to be saved.

In order to organize your backups, you can add a running number or a datestamp to your backup file. This will help you to keep a good overview of your backups.

If you want to be sure the backup was created correctly, you can check the files by their file size. This will compare the file size of the source and destination file.
You can also choose the complete file check, which is much slower but verifies that the content of the source and destination file is equal.

Add another group to the project if you have another directory to backup. If you put all groups into one projects, you need to activate BackupXpress only once in order to backup all the files.
If you choose to add more files, the wizard will start from the beginning again.

BackupXpress creates a project file for your backup. You can give it a name here. Make sure, the name makes sense to you and you can see what groups are included in the backup.

If you want, you can also enter a short description of your project, so other people who use the software know immediately what the project is about.
Click Finish and you are ready to run your backup.
